Happy New Year!
We can hardly believe that we are in our 9th year of being on "the
web". Do some of you remember our very first website put up by
David Bean of Bean Bag Co.? He was our neighbor that told us how
important it was to have a website. I didn't even have a computer
then. It progressed along further when we met Tom Thackrey in one
of Cole Weston's workshops and he offered to build us a new site.
Needing to have more control over the content and updating, I
undertook the huge feat of learning the in's and out's of editing
and publishing a website. We hooked up with Byte Technology and
they helped design and teach me how to run it. I would call that
the 3rd redesign. Then in 2006 I took another course at our Junior
College and undertook the task of completely redesigning our
present website. I still have many things to add, but I feel it is
a wonderful improvement. Thanks again to Byte Technology for such
wonderful instruction and support this past year.
What an incredible experience it has been for us, watching our
business grow through the years. I know I always say this but we
have met so many wonderful people along the way that we call
"friends" and how lucky we feel about that.
At the beginning of each new year is a good time to reflect on
what has come before. If you get a chance, browse through our
2001-2006 portfolios or through one of Kim's many different
formats like, silver gelatin, platinum or his new painted
photographs to see how his work has grown and evolved.
The 2006 single print price of $225 will be going up to $300 on
January 31, 2007. So get your orders in now! Next years workshops
are starting to fill up, maybe you would like to come to Carmel
and take a class with us this year or come and stay in Bodie
House.
Thanks for making these past years such a success for us.
2007 Print of
the Month Portfolio!
New size never printed before - 5x7 photographs!
This year we are doing something a little different. Kim will be
printing the 2007 POM photographs from his Mamiya RB 67 negatives;
they will be printed in 5x7, mounted on 11x14 museum quality mat
board. As always if the full collection is purchased in the
calendar year, a beautiful clam shell portfolio box and cover
sheet will be included with your December photograph.
This is the first time Kim has ever printed in the 5x7 format.
Be among the first to collect in this size!
These exclusive size 5x7 will only be available as 2007 POM
prints, this means that after 2007 they will only be available for
purchase in the form of a complete 2007 POM Portfolio. Individual
prints will not be offered in 2008. The cost for the 2007 POM,
when you become a member of the Print of the Month Club will be
$175.00 Non-member price will stay the same at $225 plus shipping.
We have been able to continue offering you this amazing low price,
because we still believe it a fabulous way for people to collect
Kim's work at affordable prices. This will be our 7th year
creating our POM Portfolios and our POM prices have only gone up
$50 per print since 2001. Many of you purchased his 8x10
photographs for $100-$125; they now sell for $300.
With increased exposure of Kim's photographs due to magazine
articles (Lenswork Magazine, Carmel Magazine etc.) and the
possibility of shows in 2007, we believe collecting
Kim's work is a great way to round out your portfolio. We are so grateful for your
continuing support in collecting our work, which makes it possible
for us to do what we love best!
2007 Print of Month
2007 January Issue of Lenswork Magazine
Be sure to pick up the Jan/Feb issue of Lenswork to see several of
Kim's Ballerina images. A great article and great reproductions.
Brooks Jensen does a wonderful job with his magazine. Don't miss
it!
Workshop Schedule - Studio Nude I - workshop rescheduled
Our 2007 workshop schedule is up and it looks like a busy year.
I have had to change one workshop date.
The first Studio Nude I Workshop has been rescheduled for
March 31st and April 1, 2007.
I scheduled it on Easter Sunday by mistake. Sorry about that.
Come and join us at Wildcat Hill for some inspiring workshops this
year.
We have one new guest teacher joining us from Nash Editions of Los
Angeles.
Mac Holbert is the co-founder of Nash Editions, widely regarded as
the finest digital printmaking facility in the world. Mac teaches
workshops around the world including the International Center for
Photography in New York, Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Aspen, CO
and the Santa Fe Workshops in Santa Fe, NM. He will illustrate the
steps and workflow he follows in the creation of digital
negatives. The tips and techniques he teaches will also apply to
basic optimization of digital photographs for inkjet output. It
will be fun!
Patrick Jablonski is currently having a show at the Highlands Inn
Gallery, Carmel CA. It is literally right next door to us. It is a
solo show and he is very excited about it. Don't miss it!
Thank you!
We send our thanks to Owen O'Meara from Denver CO. for introducing
Kim and his work to so many photographers and collectors of the
Denver area. Working with Artists for bringing Kim back for
another workshop and finding a superb location for The Elegant
Nude of 2006. To John Sexton and Anne Larson for being such good
friends and when I hear John talk about Brett, its like he is
still here with us. Thanks to Reed Farrington and to Blackstone
Gallery for giving us a show, to Patty Kramer of PK Fine Artifacts
for letting the show travel to her wonderful gallery in Sand City.
To Sandy & Ed Martin for arranging for Kim to show his larger
Painted Photographs to several LA Galleries, the list goes on and
on. To our board members of the Weston Photography Scholarship
Foundation. To all of the artists that participated in last year's
auction. Thanks to the wonderful high school and college teachers
that make the special effort to bring their students to visit
Wildcat Hill. Many thanks to Greg Hawthorne of Hawthorne Gallery
of Big Sur. Thanks to all for sending all of the wonderful gifts
and cards over the holiday seasons.
Kim & I wish you all a happy and prosperous New Year!
Hope to see you in 2007!
