September
Print of Month
This month's POM is up for viewing. This is
"Ode to Edward
Weston" a play on the "Excusado" a photograph of the
toilet that Edward photographed in Mexico. The story goes that
he photographed the toilet and the maid thought that was very
strange, so the next day when Edward arrived home she had filled
it with flowers. Or so the story goes.
New Board at
Center for Photographic Art Center
The Center for Photographic Art is undergoing some positive
changes. The new Board invites you to take a look at ways you
can participate in some very exciting programs. Kim Weston will
be curating the Center's upcoming Carmel gallery show
"Photographs: In Conversation with Robinson Jeffers" it will be
based on the response to Robinson Jeffers poetry from 40 invited
(mostly local) fine art photographers. The exhibit will be open
from October 10 - January 4, with the opening night reception on
Friday, October 24th. This exhibit is part of the National
Endowment for the Arts, Big Read project celebrating Carmel's
renowned poet. Mark you calendar for the opening night
reception! It will be a fun event!
The CPA will also be offering two workshops in October: Martha
Casanave and Chris Patton will teach "Photography without Lenses
- Pinhole Photography and Cyanotype Photograms," October 10-12.
Members are invited to the "Members' Retreat" October 25 and 26,
where you may attend 6 mini-workshops and have your portfolio
reviewed. Visit
www.photography.org or call 831.625.5181 for
more information.
Thank you!
We held out last workshop of the year here at Wildcat. We had an
amazing group of photographers! I will be regrouping and posting
all of the past 2008 workshop and participant photos on the
site. So keep in touch.
Thank you for
the tremendous support we get from all of you, our photographic
community! Our motto: the more you give, the more you get back.
Kim and I spend many of our personal hours giving back to our
community and we would like to take this time to thank you all
for giving back to us.
