This very special workshop will feature 3 days of photography,
painting and advanced critiques of your photographs while working at Wildcat
Hill, Edward Weston's famous home.
With instructors, Kim Weston, Randy Efros
and Reed Farrington; one of the area's best know painters, we will go out in the Carmel/Big Sur area and learn how
to strengthen your sense of composition, tonality and color. There will be
an opportunity to paint and photograph the same subjects if desired. This
exercise will really strengthen your photographic vision. (Painting is not a
requirement to take this class)
During this advanced workshop we will focus on
photographing the landscape while paying special attention to using the
view finder or ground glass for pre visualization and composition to compose a finished
photograph before it is taken.
A lesson of pre visualization will be led
in part by Reed Farrington at his home in Big Sur; he will talk and
demonstrate the "Painter's Process" and how it relates to not only his
painting style but also to art and photography in general. With emphasis on
the concept of the subject of the work in service of the larger abstract.
Each participant will receive 2 private
one-on-one critiques of their photographs with Kim and Randy. A portfolio of
10 - 20 finished photographs are required to receive this critique. (With an
emphasis on finished and ready to view, like you were going to take them to
a gallery)
Participants
will enjoy a Saturday-night dinner in our home and a fireside discussion of
photography with special local guest photographers sharing their work.
