Monterey County Artists Open Studio Tour

Come and see Kim Weston's photographs at the Carmel Visual Arts on September 24 & 25, 2016.We will be guest artists at Rich Brimer and Carol Henry's gallery located at: Carmel Visual Arts Gallery 3728 The Barnyard, Studio G23 Carmel, CA 93923 Tour hours: 11am - 5pm "Arts Habitat connects and collaborates with artists and arts organizations in Monterey County to foster a dynamic, growing community, while leading the way to a thriving center for the arts at East Garrison.” Arts Habitat presents the Monterey County Artists Open Studio Tour - an annual, self-guided tour of artist studios and exhibition spaces across the county. In 2016, the tour will take place in Peninsula and Coastal locations on September 24 & 25; and in Salinas, Salinas Valley, and North County locations on October 1 & 2. Tour hours are 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

We had 2, 4 Generation Weston Shows hung consecutively at the same time, one at Viewpoint Gallery in Sacramento and one at the Scott Nichols Gallery in San Francisco.Both shows came down on June 4. We hope you had a chance to see some of the photographs. Thank you to the Viewpoint Gallery and to the Scott Nichols Gallery. And thanks to all that attended!

We have taught 2 Nude Photo Workshops, where we made some wonderful images, photographed with some talented artists and worked with our talented models, Jennifer Jones, Sara Streeter and a new model, Marian Liddell. It was a great experience.

It will unpack and convey an array of immutable technologies, tools and techniques, that transcend the common, ever-changing technologies found in most photography programs today, empowering the artist to drive technology, not the reverse.

The August Print of the Month was made on our 2013 visit to France. This specially priced 8x10 photograph is available for $300 for the month of August. Thank you to our loyal Print of the Month Subscribers! The summer in Carmel has been quite nice. The sun has been shining and the garden is growing! Kim has started to work in his studio again. Building and painting sets. He is very inspired, especially after visiting our friend David Ligare's show at the Crocker Museum. It's interesting to watch the progression of Kim's work, what inspires him and who influences his vision. Have you always wanted to visit Wildcat Hill and see Edward Weston's Darkroom? Here is your chance! In this 25-minute video Kim takes you into Edward Weston’s original darkroom and shows you the very simple techniques that Edward used throughout his life - a historical journey back in time to see how this master used basic tools to make incredible art.

This negative called “Spring” was photographed at Wildcat Hill in 1943. The nude in the photo is Charis Wilson, Edward’s last wife. Edward Weston photographed many wonderful photographs of Charis around his home during the 1940’s.

For the past 14 years, Gina & Kim Weston have been teaching Fine Art Nude Photography Workshops at their home on Wildcat Hill, the former home Edward Weston. Wildcat Hill is famous for the light that emanates through the skylight and windows. Just imagine when you attend our workshop, that you get to photograph under this same amazing light, at this historical location in Edward Weston's home! With more than 3 private locations to shoot in, we can easily accommodate up to 9 workshop participants. While most of the locations are indoors we also have several beautiful outside areas to photograph in too! This nude photography workshop is well organized with plenty of time and space that gives you time to relax and think about what you are photographing. This enables you to slow down, take your time and get your best photographs! Perfect for beginners who may be a little nervous about attending a nude workshop and great for all levels of photographers.
