September 10-12, 2010 Wildcat Studio Nude
Dear Gina and Kim,
Thanks so much for your hospitality and for offering all of us such a unique photographic opportunity. Your home and its history are wonderful. What a fantastic opportunity for making images under all sorts of conditions in such close proximity. As time passes and I review my images, I understand even more how expert these models were, truly making all of us stretch past our previous limits.
I loved the whole experience: Carmel River Inn in such close proximity to you all and the fine restaurants and shops at The Crossroads and Barnyard, Point Lobos across the street, so to speak. Meeting Dick Garrod on Saturday was something again.
Kim, thanks for your focused and clearly explained education in approaching figure studies and photography in general, especially in terms of your artistic vision and process. Thanks also for making me realize that I have to take my photography more seriously, not only in presentation to others but also in a new creative direction of focusing on little projects or concepts to develop a meaningful portfolio. The gazpacho was something wonderful to boot.
Gina, thanks for being the director of our little madhouse and for keeping all of us inline and respectful of others during their presentations. The dinner Saturday night was delicious and so much fun, especially seeing the work of Rob and Roger (pardon me if I forgot his name). The pace of the workshop and time-layout of each day was perfect. I wouldn't want it any way otherwise.
Pound for pound, dollar for dollar, your workshop was the best ever. And I shall look forward to returning a number of times to learn and grow even more.
Yours,
Rick Midthun
