The 2016 July POM, "Nude in Bliss" was taken at Tio Pepe Winery in Jerez De LA Frontera, Spain! We spent the day touring, tasting, photographing and eating at one of the most famous sherry wineries in world - Bodegas Tio Pepe.
"The practice of formal wine tasting is a way to fully appreciate wine and we can best discover a wine's qualities and defects by using our senses of sight, smell and taste.
"Whilst touring the winery visitors have the opportunity to sample 9 different types of sherry produced by Gonzalez Byass, ranging from the youngest wines (Musts: young Finos and Olorosos) to mature Fino and Oloroso sherries (Tío Pepe and Alfonso) and to finish with, our V.O.R.S. wines of over 30 years of age (Amontillado del Duque, Palo Cortado Apóstoles, Oloroso Dulce Matusalem, and Pedro Ximénez Noé)".
"By the early 19th century Jerez had become the wine capital of the world. In 1835, Manuel Mª González Angel put all of his savings into the founding of a small winery and within 20 years González Byass grew to become the leading exporter of sherry wines in Jerez".
On July 3, 2014 we had a special ceremony of wine. It is one of the Cathedrals of Spanish wine, and the producers of famous TIO PEPE (Bottled Andalusian Sun). During our private tour we visited the historic archives underneath the winery on a tram! It was so much fun! We tasted the best sherry's, ate delicious food and had the opportunity to photograph in this lovely historic winery.
See the keg of sherry in the middle? Kim got to sign his own keg of sherry, we were so honored by the family and Miguel. Thank you! What great memories! I guess we will have to return to sample some of the sherry soon!
