The 2026 Weston Destination Workshop in Wyoming
Weston Photography Workshops visited the Boyer YL Ranch in Wyoming for an immersive, four-day fine art figure photography workshop. The week was filled with tons of laughter, creativity, and artistic growth.
Over several days, our group of photographers immersed themselves in the rhythm of the American West. From the first light of dawn to the final glow of sunset, each day presented new opportunities to slow down, observe, and create photographs with intention. Rather than chasing iconic viewpoints, we focused on developing a deeper connection with the figure and landscape—learning to recognize light, shape, texture, and atmosphere as they unfolded naturally.
One of the greatest strengths of our destination workshops is the small group experience. Participants had the opportunity to work alongside one another, exchange ideas, receive individualized guidance, and challenge themselves creatively. Whether photographing sweeping vistas, intimate details, wildlife, or the character of the ranch itself, every photographer approached the experience with their own vision and left with a body of work that reflected their personal perspective. We had the opportunity to visit unique locations outside of the ranch that presented unique photographic opportunities.
Beyond the photography, the workshop offered something equally valuable: community. Shared meals, conversations around the day's images, and the camaraderie that develops when artists spend time creating together became just as memorable as the photographs themselves. These relationships are often what participants remember long after returning home.
Wyoming reminds us that great photography is rarely about finding more dramatic subjects—it is about learning to see more deeply. Its expansive landscapes encourage patience, its changing weather rewards persistence, and its quiet beauty invites photographers to be fully present in the moment.
