November - Italy Reflection

from $375.00

November Print of the Month | 2025 | Limited Silver Gelatin Print

Part of Kim Weston's Later Works (c. 2021-2025)

In this photograph, Kim Weston draws inspiration from Edward Hopper’s quiet, introspective worlds. Photographed in Siena, Italy, this image continues that conversation between light, isolation, and human connection.

Kim, who grew up watching his father direct plays at the local outdoor theater, brings a storyteller’s eye to his work. He often builds his own sets, but here he let the room itself become part of the story — the patterned wallpaper, the elegant furniture, the open window spilling light into a space thick with stillness.

Kim uses composition and gesture to invite questions rather than answer them. The photograph feels like a moment paused in a larger narrative — one that viewers are invited to finish themselves.

Hand-printed by Kim Weston in his darkroom using traditional methods on museum-quality fiber paper, mounted on archival mat board. Numbered and signed by the artist.

Kim's inspiration came by Edward Hopper’s “Excursion into Philosophy” (1959)

It shows a man sitting pensively on the edge of a bed beside a reclining woman, with sunlight streaming in through the window — a classic Hopper exploration of isolation, introspection, and emotional distance within intimate spaces. Image to the right is a self portrait inspired from this same Hopper series photographed in 1993.
