Studio work created at Wildcat Hill, Kim's home studio in Carmel Highlands. This piece draws inspiration from Diego Rivera's bold approach to calla lilies, which he rendered larger than life with dramatic presence. The connection runs deep - Rivera and Kim's grandfather Edward Weston were friends, and during Edward's travels to Mexico, he photographed Rivera and encountered many artists of that vibrant creative circle. Kim has long been fascinated by Rivera's monumental treatment of these elegant flowers, and this work pays homage to that artistic legacy while exploring the form through his own contemporary lens.
Hand-printed in Kim's darkroom using traditional methods on museum-quality fiber paper, mounted on archival mat board. Signed by the artist.
