Head Down Nude with Cow
Open Edition Silver Gelatin Print | Part of Kim Weston's Expanding Vision (c. 2001-2020)
Inspired by Rembrandt's "The Slaughtered Ox," which Kim encountered at the Louvre, this series explores the classical tradition of depicting dead animals in fine art. Fascinated by how master painters approached such challenging subject matter, Kim created his own beef carcass studies in his studio, but with a personal twist - the model poses in the same "head down" position made famous by his grandfather's iconic "Nude 227 N" from 1937. Positioned in front of the large sculpture, the model creates a compelling dialogue between two artistic masters, translating both historical painting techniques and family photographic legacy into contemporary practice.
Hand-printed in Kim's darkroom using traditional methods on museum-quality fiber paper, mounted on archival mat board. Signed by the artist.
Note: 8x10 size retired - available in 11x14 and 16x20 only.
