This whimsical yet thought-provoking composition shows a boy flying what appears to be a train-shaped kite in front of an enormous papier-mâché rock crowned with a castle, suspended from Kim's studio ceiling. Set against a dreamlike backdrop of painted white fluffy clouds and blue sky, the photograph features Kim's son Zach holding the train model. Inspired by René Magritte's surrealism, Kim was fascinated by the conceptual paradox: how could a train - one of the heaviest things made by humans - become something as light and playful as a kite? This silver gelatin print captures that impossible transformation, blending childhood wonder with philosophical questioning in true surrealist fashion.
Hand-printed by Kim Weston in his darkroom using traditional methods on museum-quality fiber paper, mounted on archival mat board. Signed by the artist.
