Bodie House at Wildcat Hill & News
Are you planning for some time off? Come and stay at Wildcat Hill in Bodie House this summer! The season is in full swing. What a great spring we have had so far. We had 2, 4 Generation Weston Shows hung consecutively at the same time, one at Viewpoint Gallery in Sacramento and one at the Scott Nichols Gallery in San Francisco. Both shows came down on June 4. We hope you had a chance to see some of the photographs. Thank you to the Viewpoint Gallery and to the Scott Nichols Gallery. And thanks to all that attended!
We have taught 2 Nude Photo Workshops, where we made some wonderful images, photographed with some talented artists and worked with our talented models, Jennifer Jones, Sara Streeter and a new model, Marian Liddell. It was a great experience.

But most of all have fun while you are photographing. The location is perfect, its private, interesting, and the workshop is well organized. We are located on the pristine central coast of California. Just a few miles away from the Point Lobos State Park and the white sand beaches of Carmel. Make your reservations soon. Edward, Brett, Kim and Zach Weston
We are getting ready for our Four Generations of Weston: Black and White at the Viewpoint Gallery in Sacramento. If the attendance is anything like it was at the National Steinbeck Center in 2014, we are in for a great celebration. There will be 2 openings. One will be an Invitational Artists Reception on Friday April 8, 6-8:30PM. The second opening will be the public opening on Saturday April 9 5-9PM. It will coincide with 2nd Saturday Art Walk in downtown Sacramento, when galleries and local businesses host an open house evening starting from 5:30-9PM. The Viewpoint Gallery will be showing the DVD "Growing up Weston" for a select group on Saturday afternoon.
We know many of you will not be able to attend so we wanted to share some of the photographs that will be in the show. Over 70 silver gelatin black and white photographs will be on view from Wednesday, April 6 to June 4, 2016. We hope you enjoy them and please make a point to come and say hello if you are coming to any of the openings or attending the Growing up Weston - film screening.
Happy Birthday! Edward Weston, March 24, 1886
Happy Birthday Edward Weston! 1886-1958 Edward Weston meets Margrethe Mather 1913 As I started researching Edward Weston's life around the 1913's, I realized it was when he met and started working with Margrethe Mather. I went straight to our bookshelf and read "Margrethe Mather and Edward Weston, A Passionate Collaboration" by Beth Gates Warren. We saw the exhibition at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art in 2003. It was an excellent show and I am so happy we took the time to go and see it. Margrethe was a photographer, mentor, lover and inspiration to Edward. Here are some photos by Edward Weston and Margrethe Mather from 1914 - 1920's. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do. Happy Birthday GP!
